Western Iowa Tech Community College offers dependable and affordable driver's education courses for teens. Our small class sizes provide one-on-one student interaction and students are given ample practice drive time. Our friendly and experienced instructors are flexible with accommodating busy schedules, and provide quality, highly-rated instruction. WITCC is proud to offer a positive learning experience to new drivers and have a track record of helping them feel confident, safe, and prepared behind the wheel. Classes are held two evenings a week for nine weeks. Drive times are held on Saturdays, but can also be scheduled at other times. We are aware that students have busy schedules and are involved in many activities. If there is a conflict with class times, students may have the ability to make up classes by participating in a pre-recorded class session.

Class meets Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Drive time held on Saturdays or can be scheduled for another time.

Western Iowa Tech offers professional driving instruction for teens. The class will offer 30 hours of class time and be supplemented with 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training for students to learn parallel parking, freeway merges and lane changes, accident prevention and driving in different traffic environments. Considerable classroom time is spent on the effects of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and ways to safely handle emergency situations such as stalls, breakdowns and blowouts.

Thank you very much for your teaching over the past year or so. I have appreciated the opportunity of learning new things through this process. I really enjoy your style, not only in your instructing, but in your personal interaction with each of us as well.

I recently took the CDL course at WIT. I thought the program was very organized and well structured. There was a good mixture of classroom and actual hands on training and driving. I think Rod Herron was very knowledgeable. I learned many valuable skills while taking the course, as well as received a few leads on possible jobs. I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in the transportation industry.

Recruiting for CDL drivers these days is very challenging. Currently it's a trucker's market. When I'm looking for quality CDL holders I always give Western Iowa Tech a call. To date, we have hired over 10 drivers that have completed the driving program at WITCC, we have retained over 75% of them. The potential new hires are tested on Pre/Post Trip inspections, skills, and road tested. Great job Rod, you are doing a wonderful job instructing the new CDL holders. I can justify all of this as I am also a graduate of the program.

From learning how to shift a 10- or 13-speed, to backing up a van, flatbed, or tanker, to conducting pre-trip inspections, our instructor made learning what we needed to know about driving a truck easy AND fun. When I contacted Western Iowa Tech three years ago, I was searching for training that would enhance our leadership teams knowledge and skills here at Mid-Step Services. We have gotten received so much more. Carmen and Rebbel have uniquely identified real life leadership experiences and issues that management face on a day-to-day basis.
